What does CR123 stand for?
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) determines the nomenclature of batteries, and the rules are as follows:
1. The prefix C indicates that the battery uses lithium chemistry, specifically lithium-ion manganese oxide.
2. R indicates the shape of the battery, which is round.
3. The number behind it indicates the size of the battery, where 123 means that this battery is two-thirds the size of a standard battery.
At present, there is a great deal of confusion among manufacturers about the naming of batteries. As international trade in the field of batteries becomes increasingly important, the formulation of international standards for the classification, testing, and naming of batteries is particularly important. However, many manufacturers are still using their own standard systems, and they often need to provide comparison tables when interacting with each other.
